Our Mission

Preserving Asian Intangible Cultural Heritage for Future Generations

Asian culture is ancient and profound, encompassing a rich legacy of intangible cultural heritage—knowledge, skills, performing arts, festivals, traditional crafts, and folk customs passed down through generations. These traditions reflect the creativity, wisdom, and spiritual values of Asian civilizations, carrying unique cultural significance that continues to inspire the world today.

The Forever Ronghua Foundation is committed to preserving, promoting, and revitalizing Asian culture and its intangible cultural heritage. Through educational programs, cultural initiatives, and community engagement, we strive to help people around the world better understand and appreciate the beauty and value of Asian traditions.

Our vision is to ensure that the spirit and essence of Asian culture transcend time and borders, gaining global recognition, respect, and appreciation while continuing to flourish and evolve in the modern era.

The Art of Rónghuā

Velvet Flowers, Timeless Beauty

Rónghuā, or “velvet flowers,” is a traditional Chinese craft that transforms colorful silk threads into delicate, lifelike flowers. Some designs, known as Guanhua (Imperial Flowers), were historically used in the royal court to adorn garments, accessories, and palace decorations, symbolizing elegance, power, and prosperity.

This art form reflects the creativity, patience, and skill of Chinese artisans, preserving an essential part of China’s intangible cultural heritage. The Forever Ronghua Foundation celebrates Rónghuā as a bridge between history and modern appreciation, sharing its beauty and cultural significance with the world.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) refers to traditional skills, customs, and knowledge developed and passed down through generations, deeply connected to people's daily lives. It includes traditional craftsmanship (e.g., ronghua, embroidery, tea-making), performing arts (opera, dance, music), traditional festivals and rituals, and food heritage. ICH is "living culture"—practiced, inherited, and full of wisdom.
China's ICH system is structured at three levels: National Representative ICH Items: 1,557; UNESCO-listed ICH Items: 43 (the highest number in the world); Extensive Local ICH Items: over 10,000. Together, they reflect the richness and diversity of Chinese civilization.
We are the Forever Ronghua Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, USA. Our mission is to promote Asian intangible cultural heritage, strengthen cultural exchange between Asia and the U.S., preserve and pass down traditional crafts such as ronghua, and inspire more young people to understand and embrace ICH. We serve as a bridge connecting tradition and modern life.
Our flagship program is the Ronghua ICH Public Welfare Craft Workshops. We also offer cultural exhibitions, U.S.–Asia cultural exchange events, parent-child workshops, community outreach programs, and support for artisans and next-generation inheritors.
Our workshops are designed primarily for families—ideal for children aged 10 and up with their parents, and also open to adult craft enthusiasts. It's a wonderful chance for parents and children to grow together through art.
We are based in Los Angeles, California. Our workshops and events are held at various locations throughout the Los Angeles area. Please contact us or follow our social media for specific event locations.
You can support us by attending our workshops, volunteering at events, sharing our mission on social media, or making a donation. Every contribution helps us preserve and share the beauty of Asian intangible cultural heritage.
